Whilst being based mainly in London, Nigel’s roots are firmly in the South West of England. He uses oil on canvas and sometimes board with particular concern for colour and composition, and his work hovers between figuration and abstraction. Nigel skilfully utilises the devices of flattened perspective and interjects saturated, jewel like blocks of colour in his compositions to enhance the emotional and visual impact of the painting.
